EU seeks to ban Russian coal, to blacklist Russia as offshore state
WARSAW/MADRID, Mar 2 (PRIME) -- Poland wants to ban Russian coal imports immediately while Spain is considering adding Russia to an offshore blacklist, Prime Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki and Pedro Sanchez said on Wednesday.
"We are ready to do this any minute, any day. I need only one thing from the European Commission. I need a promise that Poland will not be punished for this step because introduction of an embargo is part of the global trade, which is a competence transferred to the European Commission level," the Poland's official said.
Sanchez said that one of the measures that Spain will push forward in the E.U. and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is to announce Russia an offshore state, including putting it on the blacklist of the offshore zones.
